How do I know if I need an ABAS or a Vineland?
Adaptive Behavior Assessment System (ABAS) helps to assess an individual’s adaptive skills. Most commonly these are used to determine eligibility for in-home support services for children in need of section 28 or 65 BHP services. This assessment helps in diagnosis and classifying various developmental, behavioral and learning disabilities and disorders. In addition, they help identify an individual’s strengths and weaknesses to assist in the creation of treatment plans and support service identification.
Vineland assessments are used to assess adaptive behavior and are a bit more in-depth with their questionnaire. The Vineland links both the Comprehensive ICF Core Set for Autism and the Brief Core Set (6-16), offering a more in-depth and concise look at individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, Autism and other disorders.
